Stairlift Configuration Examples

In certain staircase configurations it is possible to fit a straight stairlift, where at first glance you may of thought only a curved stairlift was possible.

If the staircase is straight with a quarter landing and one or two steps to the side, we can often fit an infil step which will eliminate one step, either leaving just the one step to negotiate or none at all.

By incorporating an infill step this allows the stairlift to travel further along the rail until the lift is level with the either the infill step or the landing allowing the user to safely transfer off the stairlift.

However an infill step isn’t always the answer, we always like to take into account the users health issues i.e anyone with an illness that maybe has an issue with balance or deteriating strengh, then a curved stairlift would really be the best option as there is no need to transfer across the stairs.  A curved stairlift would safely take you from the ground floor to the landing in one safe motion.

This example below shows a straight run of stairs with a mid landing leading to another straight run of stairs. An option here could be the installation of 2 straight stairlifts with a transfer across the mid landing. When ever a compromise is made we will always take into account the users health condition as a compromise isn’t always the best option.
